Nightcrawler co-star Riz Ahmed and Tara Fitzgerald (Game of Thrones) have joined Rooney Mara and Ben Mendelsohn in director Benedict Andrews’ upcoming drama Blackbird, which is due to shoot in the UK from June 13.
Pivot, Participant Media’s television network, unveiled three productions in development including Shrink, a 30-minute scripted comedy based on the New York Television Festival award-winning pilot developed by Chuck Martin (Arrested Development), Ted Tremper (Break-ups: The Series) and Tim Baltz (Veep) and produced by Jean Doumanian Productions.
Jean Doumanian Productions announced today that the Academy Award® nominee Rooney Mara and Ben Mendelsohn will star in the upcoming film, Blackbird, helmed by acclaimed theatrical director Benedict Andrews in his first film outing. (Andrews’s production of A Streetcar Named Desire, starring Gillian Anderson and Ben Foster, opened at London’s Young Vic earlier this year to rapturous reviews, becoming the fastest-selling play in that theater’s history. His much-acclaimed production of The Maids, starring Cate Blanchett, ran concurrently in New York as part of the Lincoln Center Festival.) Shooting is scheduled to commence in the UK in the summer of 2015.
Low Spark Films and Jean Doumanian Productions have completed the financing for the upcoming film adaptation of Galveston, written by "True Detective" creator Nic Pizzolatto. Embankment Films is handling foreign sales, and is currently representing the project in Cannes. Shooting is set to commence in October, 2014.
